FanRunClub.com- Become a Pro Basketball General Manager (You Pick Players!!) |

| | LaCrosseCatbirds3.gif |
|
1. Join Us
2. Purchase Franchise
3. Fans Become GM
4. Win!!!
Note: This Pro Franchise will be located in La Crosse, Wisconsin, but many GMs will be located around the world. The video player allows everyone to watch the games online!!
This concept was borrowed from MyFootballClub.co.uk. The fans own Ebbsfeet (a soccer team in the UK).
What you get for purchasing a membership!
What benefits come with a FanRunClub membership?
First, members get full access to the private member forums. The private forum will be known as the GMs' box. All decisions will be made there by a democratic vote. Major decisions are listed in the voting schedule. Around 10% of minor league teams are actually profitable. Members will not assume any risk. The website operator is responsible to ensure that expenses stay within the yearly operating budget. The operator fee will be in line with the concept's predecessors (MyFootballClub as an example). The entire operating budget will be annouced to the members. General Managers (members) will also wear their business hats when deciding season ticket prices and other rates.
What if the team is sabotaged or taken over?
This aboslutely cannot happen. The operator will be able to veto votes that do not fall within the yearly budget. The operator will also be responsible for understanding the stakeholders in this venture. Fans from another city will not be able to relocate the team by demanding a vote. The franchise can be reloated to a nearby city if the venue decides to take advantage of the situation by drastically raising the lease.
What about the coaches?
It's very simple. You hire them. You fire them. Exactly how this happens will be discussed in the private GM forums at a later date. If you want to discuss this please join one of our groups.
What about the players?
You sign them. You waive them. One reason a user agreement isn't posted is because we haven't selected a league yet. We cannot finalize exactly how players are acquired until we do this. The bottom line is that you will pick them. Player salaries must fall within the yearly operating budget.
What if I want to cancel my membership?
Membership to FanRunClub will be yearly so just don't renew. Our goal is to start a team as soon as we have enough members. We purposefully made all our sign up groups free to do this. This isn't a cash grab. This is the replacement for fantasy sports. How is replacing Donald Sterling not a good thing?
Operator's Fee
The operator's fee is set at 20%

From 1985 to 2001 La Crosse, Wisconsin was the greatest minor league basketball city on the planet. In 1990 and 1992 the Catbirds won the CBA Championship. At the time Flip Saunders was the head coach of the club. Several former Catbirds made the NBA including Andre Turner, David Rivers, Mark Davis, Derrick Gervin, Elliot Perry, and Kenny Battle. August 3, 1999 marked the beginning of the end of professional basketball in La Crosse, Wisconsin as Isiah Thomas purchased the CBA. 18 months after Thomas purchased the league bankruptcy was declared. The CBA has since restarted operations, but they have yet to bring a franchise to La Crosse. Several franchises have since left the CBA for the PBL.
